- I have been in the General Insurance industry since 1981. My first Principal insurer was STRAITS and ISLAND GENERAL INSURANCE SDN BHD, formerly THE NEW ZEALAND INSURANCE LTD, later AVIVA, CGU and now known as MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd - formerly known as Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd. I was attached to HONG LEONG ASSURANCE BHD in 1988 for 3 years and on the 15th March 1991, I joined MALAYSIA BRITISH ASSURANCE BERHAD (MBA) as a Business Development Officer (Marketing) based in Ipoh. MBA Taiping was officially opened on the 16th Sept. 1994. I was appointed as the Branch Manager of MBA Bhd (Public Listed/KLSE main board) which was at that moment under the GCB Group, a few years later under the Lion's Group. After 14 years, I left Allianz for The Pacific Insurance Bhd (PIB) on the 16th May 2005. PIB was 100% owned by the PacificMas Group (Public Listed/KLSE main board) during that time. PIB Taiping was officially opened on 1st Sept 2005 and is currently owned by the OCBC Group.
